Here at GetReal Food Company we were surprised and blessed that our product Sodavie was honored to be picked as the official soft drink of Kansas. To read the article. click here...
Then reality set in...
Clearly, we arent in Kansas. We are close, and at times, dealing with the lovely "Show Me" state has been trying enough to warrant consideration of a move a few miles west, we still are out here in South KC.
We would love to adopt Kansas, we surely would. We LOVE Kansas, heck a lot of our customers are IN Kansas. However, we really do agree with Charles Ferruzza in his article. We are a "stylish but relatively new contender on the local soda scene" (Gosh you make us blush!), and we really arent legit for an official Kansas Soft drink. Charles is right... Louisburg Cider Mill and their Lost Trail products are surely a great call. They are a fantastic product, and a great local company.
Perhaps we should create a write in campaign...
As for GetReal? We have come down off the mountain. Our hearts are raw, wounded and bittersweet. Our hope is that perhaps we will one day be considered the officially soft drink of Kansas City, a great town, and smack dab in the middle of the whole US.
Now that would be something neat.

Now and Then...
Most of what the general consumer puts in their mouth is created by a tremendous industrial creation that is relatively recent. For thousands of years until right about 75 years ago, people only ate things someone else they knew grew, or made.
Stop and think about that for just a little bit...
As the gap between producer and consumer increased, everything else decreased. Quality, Flavor, Nutrition, Economics, Sustainability, Environmental Health...
The result is food that is devoid of the REAL. Boring, anonymous, bland, unsustainable, even potentially dangerous.
